In April we met at the library for a sharing event (more below).

Upcoming we have two shows.  Zoé at The ARTery is having her Art Association member’s show during the months of May and June.  There will be an opening reception at The ARTery on May 5 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. you may bring snacks to share.  This is the night of the “First Friday” event downtown (
https://www.visitatascadero.com/events/index.php?id=550 ) so you can collect your “Passport stamp” at the ARTery!

Our combined show is planned for Studios on the Park in Paso Robles.  The show runs from June 30th through August 27.  There will be an artist’s reception on July 1st from 6:00 to 9:00 pm.

The Fair handbook is available now so "Shake, Rattle and Roll".  The Mid-State Fair due dates for their Fine Arts show are coming up soon.
Entries must be registered no later than June 6th.  The Fair accepts a maximum of 3 entries per person, with only 1 entry per class.  Entries are dropped off at the Fair on either the afternoon of June 16th, or the morning of June 17th, and picked up on August 1st.  We look forward to seeing all our Association member's paintings on display.

Sharing Meeting
In April we met at the Atascadero Library for a sharing session.  Everyone attending participated with what they have been working on.  We saw drawings in journals, paintings and class projects. We were able to use our video equipment and the library’s screen to display peoples’ works either using the camera or from images from a device.

New 2023 Art Workshops with Vicky Hoffman

The workshops are planned for the year. The topic is listed next to the date and there's lots of flexibility. If you see a workshop you want to attend but the date doesn't work, let Vicky know as soon as possible so she can make an adjustment. All workshops are 3 hours in length (1pm to 4pm) and cost is $75 including materials, with the exception of Sketchbook Freedom on 12/31/23 which is from 1:30 to 3:30 and cost is $50. To register, send email to vicky@vickyhoffman.com. All workshops are payable in advance via PayPal. Receive a 10% discount if you register for 3 or more workshops.

Classes are at Marie Ramey's studio: 7460 Pinal Avenue in Atascadero

May 6--Collage Transfer: Create inspirational art by delving into the many collage transfer techniques. Vicky will demo some of her favorite techniques, including some of the fussy applications. Transfers can enhance your work with wonderful depth and transparency.

June 3--Introducing Encaustics: This mini encaustic workshop provides a hands-on introduction to the basic techniques of the encaustic process -- beeswax, resin and pigment. You will be introduced to transfers, mark making, embossing, incising, embedding elements, incorporating mixed media, papers and other secrets to achieve a smooth surface.

July 22--Encaustic: Catch It While It's Hot: The prerequisite for this workshop is the introduction to encaustics and is a deeper dive with a greater emphasis on transfers and other materials. After each demonstration, participants will work at their pace and explore each of the techniques. Together, we will identify strengths, problem solve any technical issues and look for compositional clarity.

September 23--YOU decide what the topic should be.

October 28--YOU decide what the topic should be.

December 31--Sketchbook Freedom: There's magic in a sketchbook and a sketchbook could be for your eyes only. This workshop is designed for artists looking to jump-start the daily practice of sketching, or for novices looking to explore sketch booking for the first time. Tips will be provided for starting--and sticking with it as a daily practice. You'll have a treasure chest of ideas, observations, emotions and more.
