Message from the Board, June 2023

Don't forget the Art Association has an ongoing show at The ARTery in Atascadero which runs through June. Please take a few minutes to go and see it if you have not yet. If you are active on social media, please consider adding a post about the show.

The Studios on the Park show, in Paso Robles, "Our Central Coast," is June 30 through August 27, 2023. We had 13 artists submit work for consideration, and we hope to include most of those artists in the show. We are very excited about this cooperative opportunity to join with other art associations in the north county to show artist's work.

Of other interest, the Board recently awarded scholarships of 500 dollars each to three local High School students headed to Cuesta College next year with either a major or minor focus in visual arts. All are talented students and we look forward to their success.

The Board is also working on updating the Associations Bylaws, as they were last updated nearly 20 years ago. The new Bylaws will be distributed to members with their renewal notices in the Fall for voting. The updates primarily focus on making sure the Association is in compliance with State laws regulating non-profit organizations. The Board will be providing a vote by mail option for both the Bylaws and the annual election of officers to allow more members to participate. We realize that it is difficult for some members to get to meetings. More information will be provided about voting in the Fall.

We want to extend a very warm and grateful THANK YOU! to Liz Horton, who has been producing the Newsletter for the last eight years. She has decided the time has come to step down, and the Board is considering options for replacing the Newsletter - including relying on the website to keep members involved. The Art Association now has a vibrant website which is updated each month with the same information you see in your Newsletter.

It would be possible to mail you a reminder link to the website each month once those updates are made. You could then see information on past and upcoming events, and take the opportunity to look at the gallery. We will continue to provided mailed Newsletters to those without internet for the remainder of the year. We will keep the members informed on the final decision for the Newsletter.

Upcoming Events - Mark your calendars.
On June 24th, The ARTery is again hosting Judy from Golden Paints for another paint workshop. The last was very well attended and received. Judy does a great job of demonstrating painting - Watch The ARTery website for signups- the1artery.com. The workshop will be at The ARTery from 1-2 pm. June 24th.

On July 22nd, the Art Association will be hosting a demonstration on doing portraits. This was a subject requested by one of our members, but will undoubtably be of interest to many. This will be at 2:30 in the Martin Polin room, upstairs in the County Library so there will be lots of room. The demonstration will be done by Anita Hampton and you can see her gallery of work at: anitahampton.com .
