Now- Call for Artists- Cambria Center for the Arts

Call to Artists for March /April at Cambria Center for the Arts:

Community artists are cordially invited to submit two- and three-dimensional art for the upcoming Cambria Center for the Arts (CCA) exhibit entitled, “Bird’s Eye View: The Architectural Landscapes of the Central Coast.” The show will open on March 1, 2024, and will run through April 28, 2024, with an artists’ reception on Saturday, March 2 from 4:30-6:00 in the evening. Artists may submit their work online from February 23 until February 27, or, alternatively, may drop off their art on the Exchange Day, February 27, from 10:00 until noon. For details regarding submission requirements, please see the CCA website: www.cambriaarts.org.

Featured Artist:

The featured artist will be local resident Tigg Morales. Tigg has created art throughout her life in one form or another, including interior design and architectural drafting. She received a degree from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in Graphic Communications. Eventually, she found her way to painting. She works with both oils and watercolors, in her studio and outdoors. She is inspired by the natural beauty of the sea, the trees, and the charming communities tucked along the coastline.

Tigg’s paintings capture various views across San Luis Obispo County, merging natural and architectural elements that cannot be seen from street level. She shares her unique perspective of our coastal community by painting recognizable locations with a twist, from a vantage point not usually seen. Her goal is to have the viewer sense that they recognize what they are seeing but feel unsure of exactly what the image is – until they find a particular clue in each of her paintings. Tigg’s goal is to create an “Aha!” moment as viewers finally identify each location.

Artists’ Reception:

Please join us for the artists’ reception on March 2, from 4:30-6:00 p.m. at the Cambria Center for the Arts Gallery on Main Street. See if you and your friends can identify the various locations, viewed differently, in Tigg Morales’ work, and enjoy the art of all the artist participants. While at the Reception, take your time to savor the complimentary refreshments, live music, local flavor, and artistic creativity of our coastal community. As always, wine will be available for purchase.
